Spiritual Insight, Discussion groups and Wellness activities. Kay Lumbers - Spiritual Wellbeing Lead.
At Avanti Grange the role of Spiritual Insight is to provide students and staff with tools to explore their ‘self’, deepen their sense of meaning, and develop a sense of responsibility toward others and the natural world, all without focusing on any specific faith or religion.
Spiritual Insight within a non-faith school engages with big questions about life, identity, values, and meaning, using a variety of different perspectives.
Spiritual Insight Discussion Topics:
-
Raising Consciousness
How do we connect to our true ‘self’ and how will that allow us to shape who we are and what we could become?
-
Having Purpose
What does it mean to live a meaningful life? The search for meaning in modern society and in our individual lives.
-
Finding Identity
How do we learn about ourselves? How do challenges shape personal growth and how do others play a part in shaping our identity?
-
Buffering Materialism
How does materialism shape our sense of self, connection, and well-being? Can digital tools and social media enhance or hinder our spiritual and personal growth?
The Avanti Grange approach to Spiritual Insight encourages students and staff to engage in creative, innovative activities that are imbedded into our way of life.
Avanti Grange gives protected time in the timetable for guided small group discussions and Yoga lessons, both allow students and staff valuable time to share their perspectives and learn from one another.
Mindfulness practices, creative workshops, volunteer opportunities, and outdoor activities all provide both students and staff spiritual growth in practical ways.
